An Elden Ring Larval Tear allows you to reset your character’s attributes and try a brand-new build.
These rare, silver-white eggs are found on disguised enemies or in the spectral fields of the Nightreign DLC. They are used to "Rebirth" through Rennala at the Academy.
Classic Disguised Enemy Drops
In the base game, Larval Tears are the best choice for reward hunters, often hidden behind "disguised" common mobs that transform into powerful mini-bosses:
- Limgrave: South of Agheel Lake, a Wandering Noble transforms into a Lesser Runebear. This should be your first tear.
- Liurnia of the Lakes: A Giant Crayfish patrolling between the Rose Church and Boilprawn Shack turns into a Grafted Scion.
- Caelid: Near the Caelid Highway South, a cowering noble transforms into a massive Troll.
- Mt. Gelmir: A charred body near the Road of Inequity turns into a Colossal Wormface.
Shadow of the Erdtree: Spectral Graveyards
In the Realm of Shadow, Larval Tears are found inside rings of glowing blue gravestones. Note: These only appear at night:
- Gravesite Plain: East of the starting Site of Grace, near the cliff's edge.
- Cliffroad Terminus: Located southeast of the large ruins on a small hill.
- Ancient Ruins Base: Found on the cliff above the Fog Rift Catacombs.
- Church District Highroad: West of the Site of Grace, sitting in a field of spirits.
2026 Nightreign: Limveld Shadow Tears
The 2026 Nightreign DLC introduces "Shadow Tears" in the Limveld region, which are essential for testing the Scholar and Undertaker classes.
- Limveld Locations: During a Shifting Earth event, new spectral graveyards appear in the Forsaken Hollows. These are mandatory for players wanting to respec into "Nightglow" damage builds.
- Western Underground Fort: A rare tear is hidden in a chest behind an Imp Seal Statue in the fort's lowest level.
- The Scholar's Sight: If you are playing the Scholar class, using "Arcane Sight" will highlight these blue graveyards through the fog of a Nightreign Storm, making them a huge help for navigation.
- Nightreign Castle Sewers: Because the castle is randomized, a Larval Tear occasionally spawns as a fixed drop from a "Silver Sphere" enemy in the changing tunnels.
